| Today: Wednesday, September 27, 2006: They Want to Make Torture Legal ... (continued from Home Page...) They want to continue to hold so called "enemy combatants" in places like "Git-mo" without allowing them access to ANY recourse to address why they are being held. OH... and they want to be free to torture anyone they want to. Thus far they have been doing both anyway in violation of US and international laws. Now, since the SCOTUS ruled against them in Hamden v Rumsfeld the Bushies and the GOP radicals want to codify this barbarism, AND they especially want to have language that protects them from the war crimes charges that they, hopefully, will face someday. Keep in mind - TODAY under our flag, and under the orders of George Bush, we are currently holding around 460 human beings at Guantanamo Bay, most of whom came into our custody in Afghanistan and Iraq, on what amounts to "here-say" evidence. Some may be terrorists; many were turned in to US custody for bounties by warlords; others were petty criminals rounded up in Iraq. These men do not know why they are being held. Thus far, only a handful have been charged with anything. Most have not ever met with an attorney. Most have probably been tortured. And we all know just how dependable that torture is as a reliable method to gain intelligence from a captive... Is THIS the United States that YOU learned about as a child and student? Are you proud of what we are doing under our flag? If we give up on the basic tenets of what makes us special, then what exactly is it that we are fighting for? Game Over ... Game OVER! |

They leaked the name of a CIA Covert Operative, and her cover company, to hurt and intimidate her Husband who was questioning the so-called evidence that they were using to justify a preemptive war against a sovereign country... They are working to make Christianity the "officially recognized" religion of Missouri ... They have rolled back almost every environmental protection we have had ... They are violating the FISA Law and the Fourth Amendment by spying on Citizens with out warrants, even AFTER he told us he would always seek warrants ... They are continuing to approve budgets that reward the ultra wealthy with even MORE tax cuts, while cutting budgets for programs that largely aid the poor, elderly and children ... They continue to distort the facts and record in Iraq - telling us to "stay the course" ... They refuse to admit that Global Climate change is a reality... despite a growing body of irrefutable evidence They tell us we are addicted to Oil, and then refuse to act on calls for increasing the CAFE standards ... They have ruined our national finances - our National Debt is OVER $8.4 TRILLION ... They have committed Torture in our name and under our Flag ... They have unsettled relations between two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan and erased decades of consistent respect for the Treaty for Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons ... They have EXPANDED government more dramatically than anytime in US history ... They continue fealty to a leader who does not read, does not tolerate dissent, and will not admit error ... What will it take for YOU to Take the Reigns of Democracy back?
